MEC LEHARI UNDERTAKES FIRST INTRODUCTORY MEETING WITH THE DEPARTMENT’S EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT

The new North West Health MEC, Mr Jonas Sello Lehari has started his engagements with the management of the Department today, 02 July 2024 during a Departmental Management Meeting held at Mmabatho Palms resort in Mahikeng. This introductory session was also used to brief the MEC on various programmes of the Department and the men and women entrusted with the responsibility.

Meanwhile MEC Lehari has assured the management of commitment to health delivery and sound working relationship. “When I work with people I like peace, peace bring stability and stability brings unity. So people should not have fear of the unknown just because there is a change in the administration”, said MEC Lehari.

The MEC also expounded on his style of leadership which is people oriented. He further said, “when you are leading you must bring change and there should be no stress on people who you are leading and they will be productive”.

As the former MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, he noted that there were only four programmes at his previous portfoliowhile the Department of Health has eight huge programmes. This, he said means that the Department of Health is one of the most important departments. He therefore encouraged managers to work together and to always be on time when responding to challenges. As a hands-on leader, MEC Lehari also encouraged managers to proactively conduct oversight visits to all health facilities across the province. The MEC has therefore highlighted that his immediate task will be to engage on support visit to health facilities.
