COVID19 | The Department of Health has began a process of tracing contacts of a doctor who tested positive for COVID-19 at Mahikeng Provincial Hospital.

COVID19| The Department of Health has began a process of tracing contacts of a doctor who tested positive for COVID-19 at Mahikeng Provincial Hospital. The doctor has a private practice and also works at Victoria Private Hospital.

The contacts include 22 staff members, 2 doctors and 21 Patients at Victoria hospital, and 104 patients at his private practice.

At Mahikeng Hospital the doctor had contact with 12 doctors, 29 nurses and 70 patients.

As at 12 May the Department successfully traced 690 of the 722 contacts of the 51 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Province. This represents a success rate of 96%. Only three contacts tested positive for COVID-19. A total of 466 contacts have completed 14 days monitoring period.
