The First Ever Digital Clinic in the Province Opened

Setlagole – The North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha has officially opened the first ever digital clinic in the Province.  The ground breaking project is a partnership between the Department of Health, Department of Social Development, Ratlou Local Municipality and Samsung.  MEC Sambatha was joined in this official opening by the Mayor of Ratlou Cllr Tebogo Modise, Samsung Head of Africa Corporate Citizenship, Ms Masechaba Vilakazi and executive managers of the two Departments.  Kgosikgolo Phoi of Madibogo Village also graced the occasion.

Powered by Samsung, the clinic comprises of three consulting rooms, which offer mother and child health-care services, ultra-sound scanner, blood analysis, immunisation and vaccination services, an X-ray department with a Samsung digital X-ray machine for general radiology services, reception area, dispensary, ablution facilities, kitchenette, outside waiting area, guardhouse, and a hybrid solar power plant.

 

Speaking at the official opening, Health MEC Madoda Sambatha said that the clinic is much needed by the community and will go a long way in addressing health challenges in not only Madibogo but Ratlou as a whole.  “I am pleased by this initiative.  It demonstrate the commitment of our government to forge partnerships that benefits our communities.  Ratlou is a rural municipality and this project goes a long way in increasing access to our rural communities.  That is why I did not hesitate to agree to open this facility.  Within three months in office as the MEC I was told about this project and I said let us open it and provide services to our people”, said MEC Sambatha.

 

In terms of access to health care, X-ray machine is a much needed facility in the area.  The Chief Director for Ngaka Modiri Molema, Ms Mosela Mokhutshwane-Kaudi said that the facility will also benefit the nearby Gelukspan District Hospital.  “The Radiographer from Gelukspan hospital will be able to come here to use the X-ray machine.  We will also be able to deliver babies in this facility”, she said.

 

Ratlou Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Tebogo Modise who was jubilant at the official opening of this digital clinic said that the Municipality pride itself of initiating sustainable partnerships for better service delivery to the communities.  “This is not only a digital clinic, it is a digital village.  The village will not only provide health services but we will be able to train our children on how to fix digital equipment right here in Ratlou”, said Mayor Tebogo Modise 

 

As part of integrated services and partnership, the Department of Social Development will provide social work services.  Meanwhile Lesego Digital Clinic is now officially open to offer health services to more than 2000 villagers of Madibogo.
