North West Health embarks on a vigorous recruitment programme of health professionals

Mahikeng-North West Department of Health is embarking on a vigorous recruitment programme to curb shortage of health professionals in the province. The programme will see all four health districts of the province recruiting specialist doctors, medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, assistant pharmacists, clinical support health personnel and health caregivers to support health professionals in all clinics and hospitals.

MEC for Health in the Province Dr Magome Masike said the aim of this recruitment drive is to curb shortage of health professionals in the province.

"We have been able to assess the needs of different districts and facilities, and we are now responding to our findings by making appointments according to these needs. Other districts have already appointed, others are still in interviews stages while others are in final stages of making appointments," MEC Magome Masike pointed out.

Dr Kenneth Kaunda Health District alone has already this year appointed 23 Medical Doctors, 37 Professional Nurses, 4 Staff Nurses, 8 Nursing Assistants, Speech Therapists, Dieticians and Psychologists.

Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati has already appointed 24 professional nurses and are already placed in the rural areas of this district.

Bojanala and Ngaka Modiri Molema Health Districts are at an advanced stage of making appointments.

"The jobs would be advertised in phases as part of an ongoing process. The new employees will be deployed to various clinics and hospitals across the province with facilities in rural areas being given first priority," MEC Magome Masike eemphasized.
