Emergency Medical Services

NorthWest EMS has been committed to providing the highest level of emergency medical care and transportation possible. As one of Allegheny County's largest EMS agencies, we have three ambulance stations strategically located in McKees Rocks, Ben Avon Borough and North Fayette Township serving eleven communities in southwestern Pennsylvania. As our services continue to expand and improve, our underlying dedication to serving others remains the driving force behind all of our operations. Behind every successful business is a team of dedicated, passionate employees. Our team of almost 100 EMT's, Paramedics and support staff; along with our fleet of ten Advanced Life Support ambulances and three specialty resource vehicles, help us to lead the way in technology and superior service while maintaining our complete dedication to all of our communities and facilities.

Our mission is to set the standard in pre-hospital emergency services both in patient care and customer satisfaction. To perform above and beyond any expectations placed upon us by either our communities or associated healthcare professionals.

We encourage you to spend time at our site exploring what we do, where we are in your community, and how we can be of service to you. If the information you require is not found on the following pages, or if you would like further information about joining our team of dedicated professionals, please do not hesitate to contact us through the links provided.

Operations

The primary function of NorthWest EMS is to provide fast, high-quality emergency care to those in need. EMS operations covers all the "every day" emergency ambulance calls for service, and represents both the primary activity of NorthWest EMS, and the busiest aspect of it by providing prehospital emergency medical care to the sick and injured citizens and guests of the eleven municipalities we serve.

Along with the treatment and transport of sick and injured patients, NorthWest EMS is also responsible for providing medical coverage for numerous special events and details throughout our communities. These events include professional, college and high school events, firework displays, musical concerts and other neighborhood functions.

EMS Division Chiefs and District Chiefs are on duty 24 hours/day, routinely assigned to Squad 190. The Operations Division Chief is routinely assigned to Squad 191 for rapid 24/7 response to any emergeny scene that may require additional medical backup or EMS command. The three EMS Division Chiefs oversee field operations on a full time basis, focusing on system status management, incident command, and medical-backup assistance as well as other duties that pertain to their specific division within the company.

NorthWest ambulances are carefully placed throughout our service area to minimize response times to emergencies in the communities we serve. Ambulances are based out of 3 stations located in Ben Avon, North Fayette, and our headquarters in Stowe Twp (McKees Rocks.) We also have sub-stations located at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue, and North Fayette Fire Station in North Fayette. Both play a major role in ensuring we have an ambulance in position and ready to respond to our more heavily populated areas. Management is constantly evaluating emergency and non-emergency calls in all communities we serve to ensure we are providing the most effective and efficient coverage to all of our residents.
